A family books a cruise.

Because of the corona virus they cancel the trip again.

But the cruise company refuses to refund the money.

  • The Morrison family canceled their cruise vacation because of the corona virus.

  • The cruise had scheduled a stop in Hong Kong.

  • Thousands of euros would not be reimbursed to the family, it is said.

Corona virus: Family does not get 29,000 euros reimbursed for canceled cruise

Pua Morrison from Maui, Hawaii bought the tickets for the Norwegian Cruise Line cruise* in February 2019.

The entire family of eight then canceled the cruise,

according to the Foxnews portal

.

She learned months later of the coronavirus outbreak and that many of the world's airlines and cruise lines had changed or canceled their routes to and from China altogether.

So the family decided to cancel the trip, Morrison reported.

Because the cruise was supposed to include a

stop in Hong Kong

and that was

too risky

for the family.

However, as Morrison explained, her family had to

pay for the cruise* despite the early cancellation

.

Their money was not paid back to them.

The travel supplier they booked the trip with told them to contact Norwegian Cruise Line themselves.

Finally, Morrison did the same.

The cruise line said they "understand the situation" and "safety is their top priority."

However, their money would not be refunded to them.

The sum is around 4,000 dollars, i.e. around 3,600 euros, per person.

The family lost a total of 32,000 dollars,

i.e. almost 29,000 euros

.

"We had booked excursions, we renewed the travel packages. This was supposed to be a family holiday so we wanted to enjoy it," Morrison explained.

"Rather than putting myself through all this headache and most importantly risk from this virus, I just wanted to cancel the cruise and get my refund. That's all I'm asking. And I don't think that's

asking much when you think what's going on here. And it's getting worse every day

."

Morrison took out travel insurance for the cruise with a Norwegian health insurance company.

However, this does not cover

epidemics
