To announce his return to television, the 63-year-old director and filmmaker had a pastiche of the new British king.

In mid-September, TF1 hit hard by announcing the return of

Alain Chabat

to television.

Not at “Burger Quiz” on TMC but at the controls of a “Late show”.

To accompany this announcement, the channel posted a video on Twitter featuring the main interested party accompanied by Léa Drucker and Jamel Debbouze in a parody of a sequence that occurred three days earlier with King Charles III.

Indeed, Tuesday, September 13, the now sovereign of the United Kingdom had to sign a guestbook at Hillsborough Castle, in Northern Ireland.

After getting the date wrong, the king was particularly annoyed to find himself with ink-soaked fingers after the pen leaked.

"Oh my God, I hate it

," he said when leaving his place to Camilla.

In the video, Alain Chabat obviously plays the role of the king, and Léa Drucker that of the queen consort nicknamed Batman by her fictitious husband.

Contrary to the date, it is on the hour that the actor and director is wrong, thus indicating the schedule for the broadcast of his "Late Show", not at noon but at 11 p.m. as Jamel Debbouze specifies by way of servant.

“Here you go, come on, I hate that!

We are there to sign contracts for a late show and the pens do not work

,” exclaims Alain Chabat.

“I didn't iron my shoelaces this morning, I knew it was going to be a shitty day.

If I don't have a pen, what do I sign with?

With my b...?"

, he adds, leaving the room followed by Jamel Debbouze.

"Bring your black suit, we're shooting something tonight"

On the occasion of the press presentation of his new show, the 63-year-old director and filmmaker spoke behind the scenes of the filming of this video.

“When we started working on the “Late”, TF1 told us that we had to announce it.

We were looking for an idea, there was this little event at the time with Prince Charles who was cursing because his pen was leaking.

During the night, I wrote this little bullshit, I send it at 4:30 am to Benoît, with whom I work.

The next morning, we see each other and we rework the sketch a bit, but I say that we should shoot it quickly.

He answers me:

“Go ahead, we are shooting it tonight”

, “

he started.

“So I call my team.

I say to my first assistant director Fabien - we say you -:

"Do you want to shoot something tonight sir?"

He said to me:

“Of course, we shoot what you want”

.

In short, he embarked on the location scouting, he had to find a film crew at top speed

,” he added.

To give him the reply, Alain Chabat then took his phone and dialed the number of Léa Drucker.

Teaser shot in two hours

"I called her around 4 p.m.:

'What are you doing tonight?'

She asked me:

“Why?”

“We're shooting bullshit, I'll explain to you”.

“Wait, I have to organize myself with my family”

.

She called me back ten minutes later to tell me it was good.

I then called Jamel

, he continued.

"Do you have a black suit?"

"In your opinion ?"

"Bring your black suit, we're shooting something tonight"

.

He asks me:

“What is it?”

I said to him:

“I don't have time to explain to you.

Come with your costume”.

He tells me he can't before 10 p.m.

Despite the haste, Alain Chabat managed to bring everyone together at 10 p.m. to box this famous video that will make a mark.

“We shot the thing in two hours, edited it the next morning and posted it in the afternoon.

It was funny.

I had never done so quickly.

I was super happy to do this thing

, “he concluded satisfied.

A teaser that sets the tone for “Late with Alain Chabat” launched on Monday, November 21 at 10:55 p.m.

The ten numbers planned will include games, fake ads, stand up, live music and interviews with artists.
