Dar Al-Assad Theater for Culture in Lattakia hosted this evening a theatrical performance (monodrama) entitled A Last Night in the hall that bore the name of the late artist Nidal.
The work, which came under the supervision of the Arab Writers Union in Latakia and in cooperation with the Directorate of Latakia Culture, bears the title “A Last Night,” which talks about a man in his fifties, a used bookseller who enters his house to escape the shelling, to start talking to his wife Khadija about his three previous wives who were running away from him, because he sterile and accusing
His wives are infertile, and the action ends with the hero's desire to take revenge by killing his wife, but he retreats in the last moments, as a result of the awakening and the human condition that stirs his conscience and makes him retract this act.
Actor Madian Rahal explained to SANA reporter that the character bears all the contradictions that the human soul bears, as he is the generous, the mean miser, the good, malicious, cunning and simple, pointing out that this work was shown four times in Damascus and its countryside and Hama, but its presentation in the hall bearing the name of the late artist has a different effect. And this show came in honor and appreciation of his generous career, indicating that this play will tour all governorates.
In turn, the author and director Mohamed Al-Hafri confirmed that the late artist represents a model for the struggling young man who came out of the countryside and won with his talent, leaving a large imprint in the field of art, and confirming the saying “love conquers all grudges,” explaining that the work works on the idea of sterility, as women are a group of emotions. Feelings and feelings, a tree when it cannot bear fruit, looking for other rains.
He pointed out that the art of monodrama is very difficult, as it is described as easy and abstaining, as the actor carries the entire show because he embodies several characters, in addition to the character he performs.
Brother of the late, supervisor and coordinator of theatrical work, Fawaz Sejari, explained that the story of the artist Nidal is the story of an authentic Syrian artist, who dedicated his life to his art and loyalty to his homeland.
A short film was also shown that reviewed the history and stages of the life of the late artist, who was born in Latakia Governorate, descended from the village of Shayzar in Hama. He had his throat removed, after which he left our world in 2013, leaving a track record of proven works for his exceptional artistic and creative imprint.
In a speech by the artist and friend, actor Abdullah Sheikh Khamis, who spoke about his deep friendship with the late, describing him as an artist in every sense of the word, a teacher and a friend, he brought joy and pleasure to the heart of everyone who knew him, stressing that the art scene lacked a great artistic stature with his departure.
Dr. Muhammad Ismail Basal, head of the branch of the Arab Writers Union in Lattakia, described the late artist as a feat. He is the Chekhov of the Arabs, as he is the intellectual who reads a lot, creates personality and creates a creative state.
In turn, Director of Culture Majd Sarem described the late as a distinguished theatrical who left an unforgettable mark in the hearts of Syrians. He is the son of this great country and his spirit is present in all theatrical works, and his imprint remains immortal despite his departure.
At the end of the evening, he presented an honorary shield of loyalty and appreciation for the spirit of the late Nidal Sejari and his artistic career, which is full of giving.
