Barack Obama is charming as usual.

In his role as an entertainer, the former president wows the crowd at a campaign rally.

"Hello Las Vegas!

It's good to be back in Nevada.

Don't worry, I won't start singing like John Legend."

At the event on Tuesday, the democratic sympathizer promotes his party's Senate candidates.

And again warns of the current political climate in the USA.

Barack Obama, former US President:

»There are politicians who, instead of trying to bring people together, do their best to divide us and make us angry and afraid of each other.

All for their own benefit.

And all of this is amplified.

It is hyped 24/7 on social media because they find it more profitable to stir up controversy and conflict than to bring the truth and facts out to the public.«

The attack on the husband of his party colleague Nancy Pelosi was the result of this climate, Obama said.

Paul Pelosi was injured by a burglar with a hammer at his home last Saturday.

Apparently, the attacker's plan was to take Nancy Perlosi hostage and "force her into a wheelchair," according to a court document.

Barack Obama, former US President:

'And luckily I spoke to Paul a few days ago and he's getting better.

But even as investigators do their job of finding out what exactly motivated this individual, one thing remains clear: this increasing behavior - demonizing political opponents - is creating a dangerous climate.

And elected officials who don't explicitly oppose or partake in excessive rhetoric when they do, when they simply ignore it or downplay this kind of violence, when they encourage their supporters to stand armed outside polling stations when that's the environment, we create, more people will be hurt and we will hurt the very essence of who we are as a people.”
