With sticking campaigns and attacks on world-famous paintings, climate activists have been causing debates for a long time.
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has now also commented on this.
He considers the controversial actions of the »Last Generation« group to be ineffective in the fight against climate change.
"When I look at Germany, I'm really happy that there is a growing sensitivity to environmental issues, that many are also convinced that we have to take more decisive and determined action against climate change," Steinmeier said in Kyoto on Thursday.
There is support for this from many areas of society.
"The question is whether what we are also seeing these days, that valuable paintings are being thrown at with food or people are stuck on the street, really helps the climate goal," Steinmeier continued.
"I'm afraid that it will call into question the broad public support for more and more decisive climate protection or rob us of the opportunity to increase this support even further."
The Federal President was alluding to the protest actions of the »Last Generation« alliance, whose activists have been glued to the streets for months.
Most recently, they smeared party headquarters in Berlin and threw mashed potatoes at a Monet painting in the Barberini Museum in Potsdam.
The "Last Generation" also regularly causes blockades on the streets in Berlin with actions.
On Monday, after an accident in the Wilmersdorf district, there were obstacles to rescuing a critically injured cyclist.
The police are therefore investigating against two activists.
It is a 63-year-old and a 59-year-old.
They are accused of obstructing people providing assistance.
The Berlin public prosecutor's office now counts around 730 cases (as of October 25) relating to the ongoing actions of climate demonstrators.
In many cases, cases were connected because one person was involved in several actions.
According to the information, 139 cases are currently open.
