The regional court had sentenced the star chef to three years and two months in prison for tax evasion.

Now he has gone into revision.

Alfons Schuhbeck: Star chef goes into revision - and wants to make up for damage

Update from November 3, 2:03 p.m .:

Surprise in the process of Alfons Schuhbeck.

As his lawyers announced, the star chef is appealing after the verdict was announced last week (see initial report below) - and thus not going to jail for the time being.

Schuhbeck himself expressed himself in the form of a statement: "Should the written reasons support the district court's decision, I will ask my lawyers to withdraw the appeal in case of doubt.

Until then, I will not let up in my efforts to repair the damage as far as possible."

First report from November 3, 2022

Munich – He evaded 2.3 million taxes.

But when does Alfons Schuhbeck have to go to prison (73)?

That's what his fans have been asking themselves since the star chef was convicted at the regional court last week.

The judge's verdict was three years and two months in prison.

But there is one last loophole for Schuhbeck: Legally, he has the opportunity to challenge his judgment.

He can file the request for revision until midnight today, when the objection period ends.

"So far, no appeal has been filed.

The chamber has not yet received a waiver of appeal," says Laurent Lafleur, press spokesman at the Munich Higher Regional Court, at the request of our editors.

Schuhbeck has not yet taken the revision option - he only has a few hours left for this today.

If Schuhbeck applies, the Federal Court of Justice would re-examine his case with a view to possible legal errors in the judgment.

If these are found, the process would have to be repeated at the regional court - but at a different criminal chamber.

If Schuhbeck renounces, he would soon have to go to prison.

As has now been heard from those around him, the star chef will probably not take this option.

He had already stated in the process that he had made mistakes and now wanted to "take full responsibility".

Accordingly, it could happen that Schuhbeck accepts his judgment from the regional court and then has to go to prison.

His lawyers Sascha König and Markus Gotzens have already announced a statement for this afternoon - but the result is still completely open.

Schuhbeck had consulted intensively with his lawyers over the long weekend.

Immediately after the judgment a week ago, you announced: "We will now review the judgment and discuss with the client in the coming days whether an appeal should be lodged." This decision will now be announced today.

Schuhbeck theoretically has time for this until midnight.

But his explanation is expected sooner.

Because: In the evening, the star chef also has a big performance in the teatro.

There the premiere takes place in the Riemer Spiegelzelt with several celebrities.

Schuhbeck created the menu for the guests there, but the Zipse family, who run the restaurant, removed his name from the program last week after the conviction: Instead of Schuhbeck's teatro, it's now just called teatro.

"Yes, he performs," confirms Marketing Director Christine Gradic.
