The corona incidence in Germany is falling.
However, the number of patients in intensive care units is still very high.
Berlin – Is the Corona autumn wave flattening out?
The 7-day incidence has fallen to 289.6 (previous week: 493.4; previous month: 471.1).
This emerges from the data from the corona dashboard of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday morning.
Corona in Germany: RKI reports 78,629 new infections
Within one day, 78,629 new corona infections and 281 deaths were reported to the RKI.
However, the interpretation of the current number of corona cases is difficult.
In most federal states, Monday or Tuesday was a public holiday.
Late registrations and transmission problems can distort the meaningfulness of the figures.
On Wednesday (November 2nd), 29,961 new corona infections and 120 deaths were reported by the health authorities.
Corona case numbers in Germany: RKI reports an incidence of 289.6 on Thursday (November 3).
Corona incidence on November 3rd | 289.6 |
---|---|
Coronavirus new infections | 78,629 |
deaths | 281 |
Corona patients in intensive care | 1,521. Of these, 520 are artificially ventilated |
Only positive PCR tests are included in the RKI statistics.
But testing behavior has changed.
Not every infected person has a PCR test done.
1,521 patients with a corona infection currently have to be treated in the intensive care units in Germany.
Of these, 520 are artificially ventilated.
According to the DIVI intensive care register, 1,820 Covid patients were in an intensive care unit at the end of October.
As a result, the number of patients is declining.
It is to be hoped that this development will continue.
"The increase in the number of corona cases is initially slowed down, an effect of the autumn holidays," tweeted Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) at the end of October.
After that, Lauterbach feared a marathon against the virus.
The Omikron variant has since evolved.
While the sub-variant XXB is spreading in Asia, the Omikron BA.5 sub-lines BQ 1 and BQ1.1 appear to be on the road to success in Europe.
These variants are still small in Germany, but the proportion is increasing.
The RKI will publish the latest data on Thursday in the Covid weekly report.
The omicron variant BA.5 is currently still dominating the sixth corona wave in Germany.
