Life-threatening accident in Berlin: climate activist causes outrage with "Shit happens" tweet

A blockade by climate activists caused criticism on Monday.
Now members of the last generation are commenting on it - and causing a stir again.
Berlin - On Monday (October 31), a protest action by the last generation caused a traffic jam in Berlin.
As a result, emergency vehicles were delayed in getting through to the victims of a serious accident.
The climate protectors are now being sharply criticized - also for their handling of the accident.
The tweet by a climate activist causes a stir on the internet.
Last Generation Climate Activists Release Statement: “Dismayed Us”
After the serious accident in Berlin, the activists of the last generation are now expressing their protest.
In the evening they published a statement in which they shared their dismay at the accident.
“We are dismayed that a cyclist was injured by a truck today.
We sincerely hope that the delay has not aggravated her health," said Carla Hinrichs, spokeswoman for the activists.

In their actions, the climate protectors made sure to "ensure the safety of all people taking part," it said.
This also applies to road users.
However, the group cannot rule out that the delay in the emergency vehicle was caused by their action.

Climate activist Aimée van Baalen said: "We wish such a disruption were not necessary to get the government to act on the climate crisis." But the group would only end its protests if the federal government took action.
Members of the Last Generation also spoke out on Twitter.
According to media reports, the activist and political scientist Tatzio Müller wrote about the accident on Twitter: "Shit, but don't be intimidated.
It's a climate fight, not a climate cuddle, & shit happens."

Müller was heavily criticized for his frivolous and disrespectful statement.
He has since deleted the tweet.
"I just deleted 1 tweet where I used stupid & disrespectful wording regarding a woman whose life is in danger following an accident, sincerely apologize for that wording & hope it gets through," he wrote a little later .

Criticism of the climate activists is now hailing under the hashtag #Radfahrerin.
CDU General Secretary Mario Czaja stormed on Twitter: "Because climate advocates from the last generation were stuck on the street in Berlin, rescue workers came late to a seriously injured cyclist.
These protests are not only a nuisance for motorists, they endanger human lives.”
Olaf Scholz appeals to climate protectors
Chancellor Olaf Scholz also warned the climate protectors.
He appealed "that with all the decisions you make for political rallies, you always keep in mind that this does not endanger others," he told the
Tagesschau.
The activists did not exactly meet with "widespread applause" with the action, not even that of the chancellor.
The Münchner Merkur also commented on the protest action of the last generation as "anti-social action".
The police are now investigating the case.
It is not yet clear whether the climate activists will face a penalty because of their blockade.
Most recently, members of the Last Generation were criticized for throwing mashed potatoes at a prized Monet painting.
