He has been at the shelter for over a year and is waiting for a new family: tomcat Socrates.
Unfortunately, some characteristics make it difficult to convey.
Nuremberg – Socrates is described by the animal shelter in Nuremberg as a “cat with a very strong character”.
The cat has black fur, is three years old and has been looking for a new home for over a year.
The four-legged friend has a hard time finding a new family because of the dark color of his fur.
People would perceive black cats as more unaesthetic or would have concerns about superstition.

The Facebook community is upset that people don't want the animal because of the color of its fur.

Are people just stupid?” comments one.
"I will never understand why there is so much prejudice against black cats," it also reads.
Numerous users then post photos of their black cats and write how nice the animals are.
So there is still hope for the cat Socrates.
"I had a cat like that from your shelter.
After five years he was my favorite animal ever,” someone says happily.
