“Do you find it violent? We too": an SNCF campaign denounces the violence against agents

So many phrases that SNCF agents regularly hear from users on board trains but also within the station itself.

A behavior denounced by the railway company which, as revealed by

RTL

, is launching for the very first time, this Friday, November 4, a public awareness campaign against violence against agents.

Attacks on the rise

A necessary communication in the face of the increase in these attacks and incivilities towards SNCF employees.

Indeed, according to the company's figures, this phenomenon would increase by 9% in 2022 compared to 2021. Insults, outrages, threats, physical violence: in total, last year, 5,330 acts of violence were reported, of which 900 gave rise to the declaration of a work accident (whether with or without work stoppage).

A statistical data which represents, according to the railway company, an average of 14 attacks per day.

Calling for respect for their agents, the company has distributed posters in several major stations as well as on social networks reporting comments that the agents have actually heard about them.

Sentences followed by a banner which aims to challenge passengers with the sentence: “

Do you find it violent?

We too

”.

Verbal or physical violence towards our agents in relation to customers is a real scourge.

They affect everyone: men or women, in all regions, on trains as well as in sales areas or online

In this same press release, the company also specified that these posters were intended to "

denounce the seriousness of this violence

" but also to "

warn about the penalties incurred

", i.e. a sentence of 6 months in prison and 7,500 euros in fines. 'fine.

In addition to this awareness campaign, the SCNF has ensured concrete action against this violence, in particular by deploying 1,800 pedestrian cameras.

This equipment worn by the agents has, according to the company, a very effective “

deterrent effect

”, making it possible to quickly ease tensions between travelers and agents.
