Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian criticized the failure of the UN Security Council to issue a position regarding the terrorist attack that recently targeted a religious shrine in the Iranian city of Shiraz, which led to dozens of deaths and injuries, stressing his country's continued efforts to combat terrorism and support the security of the peoples of the region.
And the Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Abdullahian as saying in a letter he addressed to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres: “The Security Council’s silence regarding this attack is unacceptable, and it shows that some forces not only continue to benefit from terrorist organizations as a tool, but also obstruct the establishment of the UN Security Council.” his duty to confront international terrorism,” noting that the failure of some permanent members of the Council to react to this terrorist attack shows that they still divide terrorism into good and bad.
Abdullahian added: "Iran, as a victim of terrorism and a pioneer in the fight against terrorist organizations in the region, is determined to continue its efforts in combating terrorism and supporting the security of the peoples of the region and the Iranian people in the face of the dangers these organizations leave."
Abdullahian stressed that the terrorist attack on the city of Shiraz proved the necessity of combating the terrorist organization “ISIS” and ensuring the security of the countries of the region against its dangers.
