Tehran-Sana
The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that holding an informal meeting of the UN Security Council regarding the recent riots and chaos in Iran is a clear example of the US administration's misuse of international bodies and organizations to serve its interests.
The ministry said in a statement today: The United States adopted an uncivilized and undemocratic way in this meeting, and contrary to the usual procedure, it allowed only a few of its allies to deliver the speech, knowing that the meeting was not well received by the member states of the United Nations, and was attended by the Ambassador of the United States of America And Albania only at the level of ambassador.
The statement clarified that preventing the American representative in this meeting from reading the statement of the representatives of the nineteen member states of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Charter in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran showed that the American administration, even at the United Nations, is using a media dictatorship against independent governments.
The statement indicated that this meeting proved once again that the exploitation of international mechanisms by the United States, especially the Security Council, continues, where lofty concepts such as human rights are used as tools and double standards in order to exert political pressure against independent governments.
The statement expressed Tehran's regret that the US administration violated the basic pillar of the establishment and activity of the United Nations, which is multilateralism and international cooperation, and excessively used the existing mechanisms for its political interests and expansionist ambitions and confronting independent countries.
The statement said: Although the United States has failed to achieve its illegitimate goals in holding this anti-Iran meeting, Iran considers the United States' organization of it as an interference in the internal affairs of an independent country that is a member of the United Nations, a clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations, and a violation of the principles of international law.
The statement stressed that Iran rejects America's exploitation of the United Nations and the lofty concept of human rights, and strongly condemns its continued efforts to create a state of instability in Iran.
The statement reiterated Iran's strong condemnation of foreign interference and malicious media campaigns that are used to incite violence and encourage riots. It also expressed concern about the negative impact of these acts that promote violence, assassination and terrorism on international peace and security.
