The Erdinger bell tower on the Freisinger bridge is a special work of art in several respects.

Erding

– The bell tower, which was recently erected on the Freisinger Bridge, has a special feature as a work of art: citizens can participate in the completion by engraving one of the 1630 padlocks that form the bell on the three meter high stele.

500 of the castles already have inscriptions that provide information about the location of the bell made in Erding.

The circumference, weight, chime and name of the bell founder can be read there.

This was made possible with the support of the Museum Erding.

There, art historian Birgit Albers was able to view the documents on the manufacture of the bells and was able to create a list for the engraving texts of the 500 brass locks.

Mayor Max Gotz and the author of the bell tower, Christian Hinz, call on the people of Erding to get involved in the work of art by engraving the locks.

"A sculpture that is created with the help of the people who live around it and that also receives part of its content is an attractive idea for me," says Hinz.

More than two thirds of them are still waiting for individual inscriptions.

If you want to take part, you can get a form at the town hall gate and fill it in with the text you want for the two-sided engraving.

After paying a nominal fee of 26 euros (in cash at the town hall), a padlock will be removed from the sculpture on the bridge.

100 engraving requests are collected, then 100 locks are engraved in one operation and then attached to the sculpture again.

The text is free for the user, and he can also add his name.

The sculpture and the bridge area are illuminated with energy-saving LED lamps when it is dark.

"The costs for the lighting are minimal and range in the cent range," says Mayor Gotz.
