As-Suwayda-Sana
The Syrian Trust for Development and the (Together) initiative for self-sufficiency in As-Suwayda today distributed about 20,000 free thyme seedlings to 1,226 families in 26 villages in the governorate, in addition to 11 agricultural projects whose owners are interested in cultivating thyme, and their lands have the necessary ingredients for this.
The coordinator of the Mashroo3i program of the Syrian Trust for Development, Saeed Kahl, indicated to SANA reporter that the distribution comes within the program’s directions to support the transition from consumption aspects to productivity and cooperation with partners for this purpose, indicating that 13,000 seedlings were also distributed this year with the aim of spreading the promising economic feasibility of thyme cultivation. In As-Suwayda, in coordination with the Mashrou’i program committees deployed in the governorate’s square, with the aim of supporting the people in the targeted villages to carry out agriculture.
The coordinator of the Together Initiative for Self-Sufficiency, Dr. Rabia Zahlan, pointed out in a similar statement that the distribution aims to expand the horizontal spread of thyme cultivation because it is a plant that fits the local environment, is easy to cultivate, and contributes to achieving self-sufficiency for the families that grow it, and its cultivation can be developed as projects that provide income for its owners.
During the process of distributing seedlings in the hall of the Suwayda Governorate building, the engineer, Fatina Al-Nimr, gave an introductory lecture on the thyme plant and its cultivation method.
