A large protest broke out today (Sunday) in the city of Marivan in western Iran after a young resident of the city died of her injuries yesterday following severe injuries she received from beatings by the riot police during a demonstration in the capital Tehran.

The protester, 35 years old named Nasreen Kadri, was killed during a demonstration in the Shaharihar district in Tehran from the beatings she received from the police.

The authorities in Iran acted quickly to cover up the involvement of the police in the protester's death and her relative was forced to record a message in which he claimed that she was found dead in her apartment after suffering a heart attack and the flu.

The protester's funeral was held in the city of Marivan under the supervision of police forces and Sij, the militia of the Revolutionary Guards to suppress riots, and the relatives of the young woman were placed under house arrest.

Despite the close supervision of the event, violent protests broke out after the funeral, police and Basij vehicles were set on fire and the police responded with live fire.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, referred to the ongoing protest in Iran against the religious laws and the suppression of political opposition and said that the United States would work to "free Iran".

Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi responded on Friday to the words of the US President and said: "Mr. Biden, Iran was liberated 43 years ago and is determined not to be your hostage."

Meanwhile, protests continue and intensify in Iran.

According to the human rights organization "Iran Human Rights", at least 277 civilians have been killed so far in the protests, including 40 children.

The protests in the Islamic Republic began on September 17 in response to the death of 22-year-old Mehsa Amini at the hands of modesty guards because she did not cover her upper body with the traditional hijab.

The regime's security forces are still trying to suppress the crowd, which is mostly made up of students and young people who are fed up with the government.
