A British nuclear submarine has halted a secret mission, due to a serious fire on board.
The British newspaper "The Sun" reported that the nuclear-armed naval submarine "HMS Victorious" carrying "Trident 2" missiles halted a top-secret mission after a fire broke out on board, and had to float to the surface when the captain declared a state of emergency.
Naval sources stated that the fire was quickly contained and after assessing the damage caused by it, the captain gave the order to return to Clyde base in Scotland.
In turn, a Royal Navy spokesman declined to comment on the incident, saying: "We do not comment on the details of our submarine operations."
According to the newspaper, this submarine is one of four submarines, which generally patrol the ocean waters, with the aim of nuclear deterrence, but during the accident period they performed a different mission.
