Compared to the estimate from May, Hamburg expects even higher tax revenues for the Hanseatic city.

However, in the years from 2023 hardly anything will stick with Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD).

Dressel reported on Tuesday that a large part of the additional tax revenue would be consumed by the approved or planned relief packages from the federal and state governments.

Hamburg - According to calculations by the tax authorities, 576 million euros more taxes will be collected in the current year than expected in the May tax estimate.

Additional income of 448 million euros is expected for the coming year.

By 2026, the revenue expectations will increase by a total of almost 3.1 billion euros compared to the previous tax estimate.

However, the treasury of the Hanseatic city will be burdened by almost 1.4 billion euros in the same period due to the effects of the Inflation Compensation Act.

According to Dressel, the most recent adjustments by Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) will again bring burdens of around 0.7 billion euros by 2026. This left just under 1 billion euros of the additional tax revenue, of which almost two thirds were attributable to the year 2022, which is coming to an end .

Against this background, Dressel announced that he wanted to speak at the next finance ministers' conference on Thursday about "waiving the "secondary mark" wanted by the Federal Finance Minister for top earners in the Inflation Compensation Act".

Top earners did not need this.

"We should maintain financial leeway for further crisis management in order to remain able to react." dpa
