Rescue, extinguish, salvage, protect: women are now doing this in Kottgeisering too.

The penultimate men's bastion in the village has fallen: After successfully completing the training for troop women, there are now women in the Kottgeisering fire brigade for the first time.

Kottgeisering – Lilly Bauer, Cora Timper, Elena and Florina Kronenbitter are very happy to be able to move out in the future.

"The training was quite demanding, but it was a lot of fun," says 17-year-old Cora Timper.

The four girls, who have known each other since they went to kindergarten together, didn't have to be persuaded for long to join the fire brigade.

Of course, if they did, then all four of them wanted to start with the firefighters together.

Although they were received very friendly by their male comrades, as they unanimously stated.

At the water rescue service in Grafrath, the 17 and 18-year-olds completed their first exercise as troop women with the "water extraction Amper".

"Take a little look at our girls," commander Christian Bichler asked his male comrades - to then make it clear that you don't have to watch out for them as much as you could learn something: "The four are fresh from the course, they might know more than you,” he added with a wink.

(

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular

FFB newsletter.)

Bichler hired the first women without hesitation and welcomed them into the military.

And of course equipped with brand new operational clothing.

With that, they had attracted envious looks at the district-wide course.

Only the service uniforms have not yet been procured, because the usual Kottgeisering store has only had men's jackets to date.

By the 150th fire brigade anniversary of the Jesenwanger comrades in the coming year, however, this should also be done.

With the increase in females, the number of active Kottgeiserers has now passed the 50 mark.

"I can see that I don't need to worry about the youngsters at the Kottgeiseringer family," said District Fire Councilor Christoph Gasteiger with satisfaction at the annual general meeting.

Of course, this is just the start of further training.

In the coming year, the commander then wants to postpone the examination of the performance badge for the four women and the other newcomers.

Incidentally, the last male bastion in town is now the male choral society.
