The Secretary of the Security Council in Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, confirmed that Western intelligence services were behind the riots in Iran and the accompanying dissemination of misleading news about the situation there.
Today, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper quoted Patrushev as saying: We refer to the main role played by Western intelligence services in provoking mass protests in Iran and the subsequent dissemination of misinformation about the situation in the country with the help of Western Persian-speaking media affiliated with them.
He stressed that such behavior represents a blatant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.
