According to ex-European champion Horst Hrubesch, Niclas Füllkrug would be an asset to the World Cup squad of the German national soccer team.
"He's definitely a striker in the form you don't have in the squad at the moment," said the former top striker in an interview with the "FAZ" (Thursday edition): "And I'm sure about him: he gives one hundred percent, no matter what he does.”
Bremen – National coach Hansi Flick announced his squad for the World Cup in Qatar on Thursday, and there are a few question marks about who will be in the storm after the injured Timo Werner was out.
Hrubesch had "no concerns about Füllkrug, I would say: You can always use a guy like that, at every tournament".
The former U21 national coach raved about the qualities of the Werder Bremen pro: "He has all the prerequisites, he's strong in the air, he's a good runner, he has good technique, he has a good body.
For me he is a center forward, like I always liked him to be.”
In addition, Füllkrug was "always a bit of a rascal", who was "partly offended".
"But as a coach, I liked his style and that he always had a joke on his lips," revealed Hrubesch.
