The energy crisis is also reflected in the kebab prices.
Rising meat and energy costs are forcing takeaway owners to adjust their prices.
Frankfurt am Main – After the price increases during the corona pandemic, snack bar owners are now facing further financial hurdles.
Meat and raw materials are expensive due to inflation and affect the kebab prices.
The "Ton Bul Grill and Kebap House" doner kebab now costs ten euros.
Rising kebab prices: quality has its price
The owner Ugor Yumuşakbaş wants to continue offering good quality to his customers.
When his shop opened in 2013, a doner kebab cost almost half as much.
This is no longer possible with good quality.
He does not want to reduce food costs.
"Quality has its price.
I don't understand how you can even offer a doner kebab for three euros ,
" Yumuşakbaş told

Demand does not seem to be affected by the price increase.
According to the snack bar owner, only young people occasionally complain.

Rising Energy Price: It's not about profit
During the corona pandemic, meat became around two euros more expensive per kilo.
In addition, there are energy costs, which he can only compensate for with a higher kebab price: "The oven alone has to be kept at 400 degrees for 13 hours a day, the kebab skewers turn." It's not about profit, it's about his livelihood.
Inflation: gastronomy particularly affected
Restaurants have been particularly hard hit by the inflation rate, which averaged 10.4 percent in October.
The catering industry mainly consumes foodstuffs, which are particularly affected by inflation.
In addition, there is high energy consumption.
The rate of increase in energy costs has been even higher than the rate of increase in food costs in recent months.
