On August 7, 2019, Atauna was convicted of causing the death of the late Corporal Dvir Shurk, with two additional offenses of attempting to cause death on purpose and a series of additional security offenses

The military court convicted this morning (Thursday) of murdering the terrorist Mahmoud Atauna, a member of the squad that murdered the late Corporal Dvir Shurk at the Migdal Oz intersection 3 years ago.

Atauna was part of a Hamas terrorist cell, which included, among other things, two other defendants who stabbed the late Dvir. The military court accepted the position of the military prosecution according to which the defendant should be convicted of committing the crimes, even though he was not present at the place where the attack was carried out and He was the one who actually stabbed the late Dvir.

This, in light of his central role in the decision to carry out the attack and in recruiting one of its perpetrators.

As I recall, Nazir Atzafara and Kasem Atzafara, the two defendants who actually carried out the stabbing, were convicted of murdering the late Dvir and a series of other security offenses after they pleaded guilty to the indictments filed in their case. Kasem was sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional 40 years in prison and Nazir was sentenced to of life imprisonment and 20 additional years of imprisonment.

Ahmed Atsafra, a terrorist in the squad who was not actually present at the scene of the murder, was convicted of murder after evidence was presented, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment and 25 years cumulatively, along with compensation of NIS 1,500,000 for the benefit of Dvir's family.

Yosef Zahor, another terrorist in the squad who was not actually present at the scene of the murder, was convicted after conducting evidence of the murder of the late Dvir and a series of other security offenses and was sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional 15 years in prison.
