According to the news portal

, it was particularly annoying for the police that a gaffer had filmed the accident between Greding and Hilpoltstein.

For minutes he is said to have simply held onto the seriously injured and trapped driver of the second truck.

The police are said to have secured the recordings afterwards, but there were still significant traffic obstructions due to onlookers.

News5

quotes the traffic policeman of the VPI Feucht, Gerhardt Grad, as follows: "We are condemned to do nothing." After all, one cannot jump over the guardrail to the other lane and arrest the onlookers.

Miles of traffic jams deep into the night

Update, 8:21 p.m .:

Two lanes on the A9 are still closed due to salvage work.

According to BR, a traffic jam of over 22 kilometers has formed.

It is still advised to drive around the accident site as far as possible.

Update, 5:24 p.m .: Things are

slowly progressing again.

As the police of Central Franconia announced on Twitter, the left lane has now been released again.

It also says: "Please drive carefully and keep your distance from the vehicle in front." Furthermore, there are significant traffic delays on the route around Greding.

After a serious accident: the backlog reaches ten kilometers

Update, 4:17 p.m .:

The Autobahn towards Berlin/Nuremberg is still completely blocked from Greding.

The backlog goes back about ten kilometers.

The salvage work is currently underway.

The lockdown will last even longer.

Exactly how long is currently difficult to predict.

First report, 1:45 p.m.:

Nuremberg/Roth – The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. on early Wednesday afternoon (November 9).

More precisely, there were two accidents.

According to a spokesman for the Central Franconia police headquarters in Nuremberg, the first accident at Hilpoltstein (Roth district) was relatively mild.

The driver was only slightly injured and the truck was quickly towed onto the hard shoulder.

The second accident, however, had it all.

It passed further south between Greding (Roth district) and Hilpoltstein at about Thalmässing.

A truck also hit another truck there.

The driver of the rear truck suffered life-threatening injuries.

He had to be cut out of the wreckage by the fire department and flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter.

Bad truck accident on the A9: Autobahn was temporarily blocked in both directions

The police had to completely block the A9 in both directions in the meantime.

The accident happened in the construction area.

The formation of a rescue lane turned out to be more than difficult.

The rescue vehicles sometimes had to approach from the opposite lane.

Total blockage of the A9 will last for a long time: first experts, then salvage work

From Greding in the direction of Nuremberg or Berlin, the motorway remains completely closed.

According to the police, an expert is currently on the way to the scene of the accident.

As soon as he has finished his work, the clean-up work can begin.

Experience has shown that this all takes time.

Motorists heading to Berlin/Nuremberg should therefore bring plenty of time and avoid the scene of the accident from Greding.

It is also backing up towards Ingolstadt/Munich from Hilpoltstein.

The reason is the short-term total closure of the A9.
