The accident happened when a train on the Tsuen Wan Line southbound towards Central derailed near Yau Ma Tei Station and slammed the door, but now even the northbound service to Tsuen Wan has been suspended.

Zhang Niansheng said that after the train went south to Central, it turned around and returned to Tsuen Wan. However, due to the accident at Yau Ma Tei Station, the train could not go north after going south, so even the service to the north had to be suspended.

MTR mentioned that the train bogie deviates from the track. Zhang Niansheng said that in simple terms, the reason is that it is derailing; the so-called bogie is like the front wheel of a private car, used to control the direction of the train, and it has both the front and rear of the train.

As for the cause of the accident, he pointed out that a section of the track at Yau Ma Tei Station is a straight road, and derailment is generally rare. It is suspected that it was related to the collision with a foreign object, which caused the reel to fall off the track.
