An ICE smoked at Nuremberg Central Station on Sunday evening.

The reason for this was a technical defect.

The 300 travelers had to be evacuated.

Nuremberg – On Sunday evening (November 13) there was a large-scale operation by the fire brigade and rescue service in Nuremberg at the main station.

This was announced by the Nuremberg police.

The reason for this was that heavy smoke development could be seen on an ICE.

Nuremberg: Smoke development on ICE - 300 travelers have to be evacuated, no injuries

When the police were called, the train staff and employees of the Deutsche Bahn (DB) security service were already evacuating the approximately 300 passengers from the train.

According to this, heavy smoke development could be detected on a wagon in the area of the brakes.

Therefore, overheating of the brakes was initially suspected as the cause of the smoke.

However, a technician later discovered an as yet unknown defect in the drive system.

However, nobody was injured in the incident.

According to the police, the travelers were not endangered because no smoke got into the affected wagon.

Also, no fire broke out.

However, the defect temporarily paralyzed all train traffic at the main station in Nuremberg.

According to the DB in Munich, this had to be completely blocked for 45 minutes.

This had a significant impact on train traffic.

"As a result, there were delays and partial failures in rail traffic," said a railway spokeswoman.
