The turn of the year had to do without fireworks and parties in the past few years because of Corona.

The situation is better this year, but there should still be a ban on firecrackers in Stuttgart.

It won't be long before 2022 says goodbye and 2023 begins.

In the past two years, the turn of the year was marked by conditions such as the corona exit restriction or a ban on the sale of fireworks.

Since the situation surrounding the corona virus in Baden-Württemberg is currently still relaxed, relaxation can probably be expected again this year for New Year's Eve.

In many cities in Baden-Württemberg, New Year's firecrackers will be allowed again, according to a survey by the German Press Agency (dpa).

In Ulm, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Karlsruhe and Freiburg there will be no bans on New Year's Eve fireworks that go beyond the nationwide regulations, city spokesmen said.

The situation is different in the state capital of Stuttgart.

There should again be a ban on fireworks, as reported

The city of Stuttgart is planning a ban on firecrackers on the Schlossplatz for New Year's Eve

The city administration is planning a ban on firecrackers especially for the Schlossplatz in downtown Stuttgart.

In recent years, the square has never been a nice place to celebrate New Year's Eve, according to a draft resolution.

"The Schlossplatz was overcrowded, firecrackers were shot off in an uncontrolled manner, individuals were attacked and there were sexual assaults."

In addition, firecrackers in Stuttgart cause between 18 and 20 tons of waste.

In any case, the focus of the city administration is on making the city center safer and more attractive again.

As in 2019, there will again be a central city event so that the people of Stuttgart can celebrate New Year's Eve peacefully and the Schlossplatz becomes a place for guests of all ages and genders again.

The municipal council has already approved a grant of one million euros for the central celebration at the turn of the year.

Among other things, a stage program with music, artists and artists as well as virtual fireworks is planned, as reported by the

Many citizens would welcome a ban on firecrackers on New Year's Eve in the city

Some Stuttgart residents comment on social media that they would have no objection to a ban on fireworks in Stuttgart.

"Hopefully," writes a Facebook user about the planned ban on firecrackers.

“The ban on firecrackers does make sense on the Schlossplatz, the past has shown that some contemporaries simply cannot control themselves.

Otherwise: Fire free,” commented another user.

According to a survey by the Insa Consulere institute, they agree with the majority of Germans with their opinion - 53 percent of those surveyed voted for a ban.

Only 39 percent of Germans were against it in the survey.

"I'm going to shoot something like that," writes one man online, for example.

A ban on fireworks also supports environmental aid.

But also in view of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, there is debate as to whether rockets and firecrackers are appropriate this year.
