The city of Wolfratshausen relies on solar power.

Four municipal buildings are to be retrofitted with a PV system.

Wolfratshausen – As reported four weeks ago, the building committee of the city council refused to oblige builders to install photovoltaic systems in new buildings.

At their most recent meeting, however, the members of the specialist committee unanimously approved of the retrofitting of municipal properties with PV systems.

"It's at least a bit further," remarked Rudi Seibt (Greens).

Three years ago, the representatives of the CSU, SPD and Greens in the building committee proposed that an engineering office be commissioned to examine all municipal buildings with regard to their suitability for a PV system.

In other words, in terms of building law, economic and technical feasibility.

"There is now a draft plan," said Vivian Horngacher, environmental and climate protection manager at City Hall, at the meeting.

Accordingly, the bottom line is that only four municipal properties come into question, since their roofs have, among other things, the necessary "load capacity reserves".

There is the old pump house on the west bank of the Loisach (the PV system would have a potential output of 24 kilowatts peak), the front and central building of the city archives on Bahnhofstrasse (26 kilowatts peak), the homeless shelter on Münchner Strasse (10 kilowatts -Peak) and the day care center on Badstrasse (67 kilowatt peak).

In view of skyrocketing energy prices, according to Horngacher in the meeting proposal for the elected representatives, the greatest potential lies in using the electricity generated with solar power “for our own use and feeding the excess electricity generated into the public grid”.

The "Operator model for self-consumption of solar power" is recommended for municipalities, especially against the background of "thrifty and economical budget management".

200,000 euros are available in the budget for 2023

Currently, 200,000 euros are available for such a measure in the budget for next year.

At least theoretically, because the city council will decide which investments will actually be made in 2023 as part of the upcoming budget deliberations.

And: Due to the galloping price increases, it can be assumed that with 200,000 euros only two of the four PV systems mentioned can be planned and installed.

"I think that's positive," said the parliamentary group leader of the citizens' association, Josef Praller, with a view to the result of the feasibility study.

The city is "on the right track".

"Four roofs are a start," said the city council's environmental officer, Dr.

Hans Schmidt (Greens).

However, since a PV system can probably only be set up on two roofs in the near future, Schmidt spoke out in favor of prioritizing the projects.

He advocated putting “the largest” and thus most profitable plant at the top of the agenda – and voting on it.

The majority of the committee did not want that, "the administration will do it," said City Hall Chief Heilinglechner on the subject of prioritization.

Green representatives withdraw two motions

The decision was made with 10:0 votes.

The mayor is authorized to tender the planning service for the PV systems and to commission an engineering office with the implementation of the measures.

As a result, the Greens withdrew two motions.

They wanted "solar power on the music school" and "solar power on the new kindergarten Steghiaslweg".

However, as is well known, postponed does not mean cancelled.
