“Anne Hidalgo has been drinking Qatari champagne for ten years at the Parc des Princes”: Daniel Riolo scratches the mayor of Paris

2022-11-15T16:46:35.358Z

FIGARO LIVE – The journalist is flying to Qatar to host “L’After Foot” on RMC, on the occasion of the Football World Cup from November 20 to December 18. Guest of "Buzz TV", he speaks on calls for a boycott.

TV MAGAZINE.

- Just six days before the World Cup, how do you explain that popular enthusiasm is at zero level?

Daniel Riolo.

-

I am amazed by what you say!

There is a lot of controversy but we recently conducted a survey of our RMC listeners.

The vast majority of them are waiting for this World Cup and will be interested in it.

Afterwards, God knows that the sensitive subjects were relayed on our antenna, and that the debates existed.

We also explained why we feel it is our duty to cover this competition.

Without ideology, and without cynicism either, we will go to Qatar because the job of a journalist consists of going into the field and telling what is happening there.

Was it a good idea to organize this World Cup in Qatar?

Calls for a boycott, investigations, Qatar Bashing: it's a bit late to ignite all the controversy a few days before the event... In 2010, when the World Cup was awarded, concerns were not not the same.

No one was talking about climate issues at that time.

It's hard to answer the question of whether it was a good idea.

If all these problems that we have been raising for a few months are useful for the future, we will have gained something.

On the other hand, if on December 18, the day of the final, everything is forgotten, both the debates on the environment and those on workers, we will have created a buzz for nothing and that will be regrettable.

"All French football lives thanks to Qatar"

Daniel Riolo, guest of “Buzz TV”.

What do you think of cities that boycott competition and refuse to install giant screens?

This is absolute demagoguery.

Anne Hidalgo went to sit for years in the official stand next to Nasser al-Khelaïfi, president of Paris Saint-Germain.

And overnight, she refuses to put up screens… It's grotesque!

She went for ten years to the Parc des Princes to drink Qatar champagne.

This country also sponsors the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and owns buildings in Paris.

That's a lot of indirect jobs created in France.

All French football, moreover, lives thanks to this State, in particular with the rights paid by beIN SPORTS.

It's so hypocritical that all these cities are holding their noses... I'm highlighting the mayor of Paris because we've reached the bottom of the ridiculous.

It is absolutely terrible.

What RMC device will it deploy on the occasion of this sporting event?

For the first time, we will feed a digital radio where we will offer content around this competition without interruption.

All the matches, which will not necessarily be on the RMC antenna since the broadcasts continue, will be broadcast there.

On the air, from 2 p.m., the station will turn entirely to the World Cup.

We are moving two programs to animate them on site: “Rothen ignites” and “L’After Foot”, broadcast from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Then, until one o'clock in the morning, listeners will be able to react freely on our antenna.

"L'After Foot" was the most listened to podcast show last month.

How do you analyze this success?

It is difficult to explain.

Perhaps this plebiscite is linked to our longevity: we have been there for fifteen years!

We have gradually become the benchmark program.

And then, maybe we're good...

(Laughs.)

"Louis Boyard's attitude is absolutely lamentable"

Daniel Riolo, guest of “Buzz TV”.

You occasionally intervene in “Touche pas à mon poste” on C8.

A violent altercation broke out between Cyril Hanouna or Louis Boyard.

Who do you support?

Certainly not the deputy!

The host of “TPMP” apologized for the insults and it is these invectives that are embarrassing in this sequence.

Basically, I understand him because he can't stand the lack of loyalty.

Louis Boyard was a columnist at home.

He owes his notoriety, and most likely his election, to the media personality he has become.

Of course he can talk about interesting topics and ask questions without being censored.

But the way he does it at this time is not good.

We must condemn violence, of course, but the deputies of the Nupes wield it at will when they want.

Louis Boyard, when he doesn't shake hands with certain elected officials, isn't that a lack of respect and a form of violence?

Mélenchon, when he yells in the face of a cop or journalists,

isn't that an insult?

These people practice the permanent stunt and there they come chouiner... The attitude of Louis Boyard is absolutely lamentable.
