The climate activists are not giving up.

Although in Bavaria several members of the climate movement "Last Generation" are in police custody for 30 days.

Munich – A key is pushed into the lock and turned.

There is a metallic crack, then the heavy prison door opens with a squeak.

The climate adhesives Maria Braun (18) and Leo Elgas could have experienced their release from the Stadelheim prison yesterday in a similar way.

Monday evening - three activists should be released from custody, including the 18-year-old student.

According to the district court, 14 others are to be released from custody on December 2nd.

But soon the next activists could end up in the cell.

Because: The climate stickers are targeting the airports.

33 times jail for climate fighters: That is the balance sheet of the Munich district court since October 29th.

As mentioned, Maria Braun also ended up in Stadelheim.

Last Monday morning she and other activists stuck to the Stachus - one of many actions with which the climate activists of the "last generation" paralyzed the city.

Many of them were taken to the police station.

Some were allowed to go home a little later, while others have to go to prison for up to 30 days.

They shouldn't be able to plan new blockades like this - but meanwhile their fellow campaigners outside were doing exactly that.

"Last Generation" is planning action at Munich Airport

Carla Hinrichs from the “Last Generation” says nothing about when and where they want to block airports and whether they are also targeting Munich Airport.

She only reveals this much: "We are planning a peaceful blockade." At the beginning of this year, eight climate activists were stuck on the driveways of Munich Airport.

A spokesman said they were prepared at Munich Airport.

The runways are fenced in anyway and if in doubt, the security forces quickly get help from the police departments.

The Bavarian Police Duties Act allows detention of up to one month

Officers could arrest the activists immediately and lock them up in a cell for up to 30 days.

This is allowed according to the Police Tasks Act (PAG) - a Bavarian specialty.

Several hundred people protested against this regulation on Sunday.

They moved from Wettersteinplatz to Stadelheim - where the 14 activists are to remain in prison for a good two weeks.

Civil disobedience or coercion: climate action is making waves

The custody of the climate stickers and their actions are dividing the country.

Several groups have stuck themselves to streets or cars in recent weeks, causing much chaos.

The blockades caused long traffic jams.

Some support the actions and the goals behind them.

The others want tougher punishments for the activists - but the "Last Generation", a small but radical group, wants to keep fighting.

Because after weeks of nationwide protests, the group has also taken stock.

The effect of their actions is noticeable, says Carla Hinrichs from the "Last Generation".

But in addition to attention, one also wants to achieve political change - but there is still no sign of it.

That's why the activists want to continue to resist.

"As long as there is breath in our bodies, we will not give up," says Hinrichs.
