Throat intubation required for admission with symptoms of high fever and encephalitis
Xinxin was diagnosed in early March this year. His father, Li Yaofeng, recalled that at home, he found his daughter had a high fever of over 40 degrees Celsius, and had symptoms such as cramping and vomiting.
Xinxin was then sent to the Children's Intensive Care Unit of Tuen Mun Hospital for 18 days.
Due to the symptoms of encephalitis, throat intubation was required at the worst time. The doctor prescribed remdesivir, steroids, gamma globulin, tocilizumab and other drugs for treatment.
Family members cross-infected with cold water to cool down and anti-cramps
Li Yaofeng said that in early February, his wife and two eight-year-old daughters were diagnosed one after another.
During the home isolation period, the young girl Xinxin was also infected.
He said that Xinxin had a high fever of more than 40 degrees Celsius and lasted for more than ten minutes. Not long after he poured cold water for his daughter to cool down, her daughter started to cramp.
After being sent to Tuen Mun Hospital, he still had cramping symptoms. After taking the medicine, the cramps stopped but fell into a coma. He was then transferred to the Children's Intensive Care Unit for medical treatment. He himself was diagnosed a few days later.

Xinxin was in critical condition at one point, and he described it as "heavy, extremely panicked and worried".

It is recommended to get the new crown and flu vaccine at the same time
Yuan Zhili said that children who have not been vaccinated against the new crown have a greater chance of developing serious complications such as encephalitis and hoarseness after being diagnosed. He suggested that parents should vaccinate their children with both vaccines at the same time to prevent more serious complications.
If parents find their children have a high fever, they should take them to the hospital for medical treatment as soon as possible. It is not recommended to lower the temperature by themselves.
