A pedestrian was killed in Haifa in a hit-and-run accident; 4 injured near Arad - including 2 in serious condition Israel today

An 84-year-old pedestrian was killed today (Tuesday) after being hit by a vehicle on Yaakov Dori Street in Haifa.

MDA medics and paramedics arrived at the scene, gave him initial medical treatment and evacuated him to Rambam Hospital in the city.

There, a few hours later, he was pronounced dead. 

According to medical officials, the pedestrian was initially evacuated from the scene in a mild-moderate condition and with a head injury. The police began investigating the incident. It is suspected to be a hit-and-run accident. The investigation continues in order to track down the offending vehicle.

Rambam Hospital spokeswoman: "Continuing to the police announcement about a pedestrian who was injured this evening in an accident in Haifa and died.

This is a man born in 1938, a resident of Neve Shanan, who arrived in a vague state of consciousness with a head injury and several injuries to his internal organs.

Unfortunately his body systems collapsed in the shock room and despite 35 minutes of resuscitation and many doses of blood given to him, the doctors had to pronounce him dead.

To the best of our knowledge, the deceased has no close family in Haifa and no other relatives have been located."

Trapped in a car

In another car accident, four people were injured when their vehicle collided with a light pole on the Arad road, two of them in a serious condition.

MDA teams that arrived at the scene found the four trapped in their vehicle. At this point, three were rescued and taken to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva: a 20-year-old woman with head and limb injuries, an 18-year-old girl with a head injury and a 3-year-old boy with multiple systemic injuries.

Another injured man, a man in serious condition and unconscious - trapped inside the vehicle.

The police arrived at the scene and began investigating the circumstances of the accident.
