On the second day of the Alissar Theater Festival, in its fourth session, the monodrama The Cannibals (Mortadella), prepared and directed by Kamal Qarhali, discusses the human struggle and the negative reality of society and its contradictions.
The festival, which comes in cooperation with the Directorates of Theatre, Music and Culture of Lattakia, hosts its performances on the stage of Dar Al-Assad for Culture in Lattakia. In its fourth session, it chose to celebrate the works of the great writer Mamdouh Adwan, so that director Qarhali chose from it the theatrical text (Cannibals), which is considered a philosophical text through which the writer raises a number of issues that It relates to the life of the individual, human existence, and the struggle between good and evil, with the call, according to Qarhali, for the need for humans to stop eating each other's flesh by exploiting, stealing, and killing each other, and to return to their humanity.
The director, Qarhali, who chose an amateur actor standing for the first time on the stage to present it, relying on his long theatrical experience in preparing it away from preconceptions, saw in a statement to SANA reporter that the festival, which had a great rich experience in its previous sessions, which relied heavily on young talents, was adopted in its fourth session. It aims to bring together professionals and amateurs, which allows benefiting from experiences in preparing professional theatrical actors.
The hero of the show, Muhammad Malouhi, a sixth-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, spoke about his passion for theater, which began more than a year ago, to have the opportunity to stand on the stage after choosing the show, which posed a challenge for him in how to embody work ideas in an artistic way on the stage, indicating that his attachment to personality Sharing many qualities with her made it a real pleasure to perform.
Malouhi praised the festival, which activates the role of theater in society and provides the opportunity for young people to go out on stage and in front of the audience, hoping that theatrical culture will spread and that there will be competition between theater groups in presenting performances that revitalize and reactivate theatrical movement.
The Alissar Festival continues daily through its theatrical performances, as the play Stray Dog will be shown tomorrow, directed by Nidal Adira.
