Don't go to bed early: "La grande bookstore" is preparing a major program on Proust

2022-11-15T15:28:58.332Z

To celebrate the hundred years of the death of the writer, Augustin Trapenard organized this Wednesday a "festive meeting" with guests, readings and madeleines.

The celebrations started with the opening of the beautiful exhibition of the BnF François-Mitterrand and numerous publications.

They continue with, pell-mell, the inauguration of a plaque in the rue de Courcelles, where he lived, a reading of the last volume of

La Recherche

lasting sixteen hours by Ivan Morane and, coup de grace, a dictation giant event organized at Saint-Lazare station.

There will also be, on Wednesday, the broadcast of an “

Exceptional and festive”

“Grande Librairie” according to Augustin Trapenard dedicated to Marcel Proust, who died on November 18, 1922, as a result of poorly treated bronchitis.

The literary program, taken over by the voice of France Inter two months ago, could not, of course, miss this tribute.

Proust, this fascinating writer, will, we hope, unleash passions.

The first numbers, in line with François Busnel, were pleasant but a bit conventional.

There will be luminaries.

First, from the BnF, Antoine Compagnon, who notably edited

Sodom and Gomorrah

in La Pléiade, and Jean-Yves Tadié, who studied almost everything in Proust and willingly confides, from the height of his 86 years, to knowing better the writer than himself.

Text readings

The novelist Évelyne Bloch-Dano, who likes to slip into the homes and lives of great authors, will evoke the indispensable Madame Proust, Marcel's mother.

Charles Dantzig will present

Proust Océan

, Stéphane Carlier his novel

Clara lit Proust

.

Or how a Burgundian hairdresser begins to dream of Proustian salons.

Singer Oxmo Puccino will recount his encounter with

La Recherche du temps perdu

, to which he will dedicate a show alongside Françoise Fabian next year.

Will also be present, the “proustologist” Nicolas Ragonneau, Chloé Cruchaudet who revived Céleste Albaret in comics, the writers Agnès Desarthe and Philippe Delerm, but also Lionel Naccache, specialist in cognitive neuroscience.

Perhaps he will dissect Proust's relationship to memory.

Three actresses are in the game: Françoise Fabian, Valérie Bonneton, already broken by reading the long sentences of

La Recherche

, as well as Amira Casar.

See you, therefore, Wednesday, November 16 at 9 p.m. on France 5, a package of family-size madeleines on your knees.
