The chairman of the state camp, Benny Gantz, withdrew last night (Monday) from his commitment to automatic opposition discipline under the leadership of the outgoing prime minister and designated opposition leader, Yesh Atid chairman, Yair Lapid.
Yesterday the outgoing Prime Minister convened the heads of the designated opposition parties, among them: Merav Michaeli, Benny Gantz, Avigdor Lieberman and Mansor Abbas.

Will they cooperate again?

Most of the meeting dealt with the question of how the leaders of the parties will cooperate to block initiatives that they claim are "dangerous" on the part of the government, such as the escalation clause, and to make sure that the leaders of the factions are coordinated in votes as much as possible.
As mentioned, the chairman of the state camp expressed his disapproval of automatic oppositional discipline, such as we have been used to seeing from the Netanyahu bloc in the past year. According to sources involved in the content of the meeting, Gantz conveyed a message that the state camp will make independent decisions on each subject according to state considerations and will not oppose any law of the coalition automatically only by virtue of the opposition struggle.

As for Lapid's other partners, the chairman of Israel Beitenu, Avigdor Lieberman, said at the faction meeting that he sees Yair Lapid as an opposition leader who leads the opposition struggle.
Against the background of the evaluations of the opposition, Lapid told his friends in Beish Atid at the closed faction meeting: "We are in the five stages of mourning of Kubler-Ross: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. We have accepted what happened, now the question is what to do with it. We will be a fighting opposition." .
