Blue lights and sirens could be seen and heard throughout the eastern district of Erding early Tuesday evening.
The trigger was a fire in the old people's and nursing home in Algasing near Dorfen.
Dorfen – The rescue control center in Erding alerted around 5:30 p.m. a good dozen fire brigades from across the region, the district’s civil protection, the police and several ambulances.
According to the Dorfen police inspection, it turned out that a washing machine had caught fire at a station.
The smoke endangered residents and staff.
The police are assuming a technical defect.
However, it was an incipient fire that was quickly extinguished by the fire department.
Nobody was hurt.
In the case of fires in home facilities, a major alarm is always triggered because it is never foreseeable whether a large number of immobile people will have to be rescued.
