The MTR Tsuen Wan Line Yau Ma Tei Station suffered a serious train derailment on Sunday (13th) and a preliminary report was submitted to the government today (15th).
On that day, about 150 passengers entered the track through the emergency exit at the rear of the train, and returned to Mong Kok Station along the track in the dark. During this period, the same southbound train passed side by side.
Lee Ka-run, Director of Train Operations of the MTR, admitted that the content of the broadcast that day may have deficiencies, as it failed to fully express the arrangements for passengers to leave the carriage, which caused some people to push the emergency exit ramp at the rear of the train to leave the carriage.
"We don't think it's ideal for passengers to have such an experience."

Li Jiarun, director of train operations of the MTR, said that according to preliminary information, two trains had entered the platform at that time. After assessing the situation, the train control center originally planned to arrange for passengers to return to the Yau Ma Tei station platform through the curtain door of the carriage with the assistance of staff.
He emphasized that the traffic control center maintained communication with the bus captain, but admitted that the content of the broadcast that day may have deficiencies, as it failed to fully and clearly express the arrangements for passengers to leave the car, causing some people to push the emergency exit ramp at the rear of the car to leave carriage.
Li Jiarun continued to point out that because the equipment in the front cab was damaged due to the accident, the emergency exit chute turned on the alarm "no transmission to the driver." A few minutes later, the station staff discovered this situation and reported it to the control center.
When the control center learned that passengers used the ramp to leave the compartment, it immediately activated contingency arrangements. Because there was a road crossing between the Kwun Tong and Tsuen Wan lines, the control center immediately arranged to instruct the Kwun Tong line to stop the service of the train bound for Whampoa, and arranged for passengers to arrive at Mong Kok Station platform.
Staff also checked the track area to ensure that no passengers stayed.

When a passenger saw these trains, "We think it is not ideal to let passengers have such an experience." MTR will investigate the arrangement in depth and apologize to the affected passengers again.
