The traditional Christmas markets in the Tölzer Land will take place again this year without restrictions.

When and where is punch, gingerbread etc. available?

An overview:

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- It's finally that time again: After a two-year break, there are Christmas markets in the Tölzer Land again.

The preparations are underway, the anticipation is great.

Bad Tölz

"It's an exciting time for us to finally be able to set up the traditional Christmas market on Marktstraße again after two years," says Susanne Frey-Allgaier, deputy spa and tourism director of Bad Tölz.

From November 25th to December 24th, Marktstraße will once again smell of spicy mulled wine and hearty grilled sausages.

“The stands are always open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.,” says Frey-Allgaier.

Sunday shopping takes place in Bad Tölz on the first weekend.

“We have a wide range for young and old.

Both in terms of gastronomy, the sales stands and the events," she promises.

Especially those with a sweet tooth would get their money's worth.

“We have many candy stands, some of which are new.

The approximately 40 booths are made up of long-established and new traders.

"We are particularly pleased that Saskia Wittlinger, the daughter of the late Christkindlmarkt co-founder Kurt Wittlinger, is continuing her father's tradition and taking over his grill stand," says Frey-Allgaier.

A musical program is offered every day.

"In addition, guests can look forward to a demure Krampus run, Santa Claus, a photo box, a carriage ride and many other attractions." Traditionally, the Tölz Christmas market will also be open on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lenggries

The Lenggries advertising community has organized a program for the “Magic of Lights”.

"On December 3rd from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. the "Lenggrieser Scheib'n will shine with Christmas lights", says the chairwoman Eva-Maria Hofer.

In addition to numerous local shops that are open, there is also a lot to offer in terms of culinary delights.

"From venison bratwurst to cheese spaetzle to chocolate fruit, from red and white mulled wine to hot cocktails, everything is included."

St. Nicholas brings small presents for children around 5 p.m. and the library organizes a picture book cinema.

Brass players provide advent musical entertainment.

Benediktbeuern

The traditional old Bavarian Christmas market in the center of Benediktbeuern is on December 4th.

"Unfortunately, the Advent singing in the afternoon in the Marienkirche will not take place," says Sabine Rauscher from the Benediktbeur guest information.

There is also an arts and crafts exhibition in the cloister of the monastery on the first weekend in Advent, from November 25th to November 27th.

Kochel am See

In Kochel am See, the association "Die Kochler" organizes the Advent market with around 40 stands on the first Sunday of Advent, November 27th, from 10 am to 7 pm around Schmied-von-Kochel-Platz.

"New this year is a children's area with three stands and a story and fairy tale tent," explains Chairman Franz Linner.

Young visitors can go on a journey with a children's train and take a carriage ride through Kochel with Santa Claus.

There is also a "living crib" to admire.

As every year, the proceeds benefit a charitable project or association.

"It's not yet clear who that will be," says Linner.

"If you can't wait that long, you can come to the Advent mood around the Fischerbrunnen from 5 p.m. the evening before, there will be mulled wine and delicacies," says the chairman.

On the 3rd, 10th and 17th

The “Kochler Advent Magic” takes place in December.

A Kochler association also provides guests with mulled wine and snacks at the Fischerbrunnen between 5 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.

Bad Heilbrunn

According to Mayor Thomas Gründl, the weekend, 10./11.

scheduled for December.

A Christmas market is to take place at the Reindlschmiede on December 4th.

Christmas lights - This is how savings are made in Tölz

The topic of saving energy also plays an essential role in Advent this year.

"We normally decorated the tourist information center on Max-Höfler-Platz with a large curtain of lights that covered almost the entire facade," explains Susanne Frey-Allgaier, deputy head of tourism in Tölz.

We will do without that this year.

"Not only to save energy, but also to set an example," she emphasizes.

"Instead, we will conjure up a Christmas atmosphere with daxes, balls and straw stars."

The Christmas tree in Marktstraße will only be lit from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. every day instead of the previous 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., says town hall spokeswoman Birte Otterbach.

The other 17 Christmas trees in the city are linked to the street lighting.

"The trees are thus illuminated from 6 a.m. to around 8 a.m. and in the evening from dusk until 10 p.m.," says Otterbach.

In addition, the Isar Bridge is illuminated with LEDs.

According to Otterbach, the municipal Christmas lights have a total energy consumption of around 1400 kilowatt hours.

That's the equivalent of about 300 euros (Tölz tariff Stadtwerke).

"The savings potential here is not too great," explains the spokeswoman.

The city is trying a balancing act.

“Christmas is a feeling.

Especially after the last two years and against the background of the war of aggression in Ukraine, many wish for the support that tradition gives them.

Nevertheless, the goal of using energy responsibly is also very important,” says Otterbach.
