The National Serious and International Crime Investigation Unit (Yachbal) in Blade 433 arrested five people yesterday (Tuesday) for questioning on suspicion of importing dozens of kilograms of cocaine worth millions of shekels into Israel.
One of the detainees is the father of a famous singer.
The arrest came after an undercover investigation that has been going on for many months in the Israel Defense Forces, together with Haifa Customs and VAT at the Tax Authority.
As part of the investigation, tens of kilograms of cocaine-type drugs were seized, during smuggling carried out on a ship that was carrying coal on its way to Israel. After the drugs were seized, an undercover investigation began during which several operations were carried out that indicated the suspicion of the involvement of several suspects in the importation of the drugs into Israel.
The arrest of the five suspects was carried out at their home, during which the investigators searched for evidence and findings.
At the end of the searches, they were transferred to the offices of Lahav 433 for questioning. The police said that "as necessary, during the day the suspects will be brought to a hearing on the request to extend their detention at the Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion."
