In the event of cardiac arrest, every minute counts to save the victim's life.

Luis N. was there when a senior citizen collapsed at Ostbahnhof.

He provided first aid while others just gaped.

Munich – Sometimes guardian angels also have names: In the case of a senior who collapsed at the Ostbahnhof on Monday, the lifesaver is called Luis N. The 16-year-old immediately helped the senior in her emergency.

Without his courage and courage, the woman from Rosenheim, who suffered cardiac arrest, might not be alive today!

The hero from Ostbahnhof goes to school in Haidhausen and had a break around 12 noon.

Great luck for the elderly woman: when she collapses unconscious in the anteroom of the station toilets, Luis N. happens to pass by.

"I was just listening to music and it took me a few moments," he says.

Then he realizes what he just saw out of the corner of his eye.

The 16-year-old turns around on the spot.

Courageous rescuer from Munich Ostbahnhof: learned first aid skills from the fire brigade

And he knows what to do.

He was involved with the volunteer fire brigade in his district and has knowledge of first aid.

Luis N. brings the woman into the stable side position.

When he finds that both breathing and heartbeat have stopped, he doesn't hesitate for long.

"I have prepared the resuscitation." At that moment, two federal police officers come to his aid.

One of the officers confirmed the teenager's assessment.

He takes turns resuscitation with him: one repeatedly supplies the woman with oxygen, the other does the cardiac massage.

The two fight for the life of the unconscious elderly woman for five long minutes.

"I tuned out everything else and just focused on helping this woman," says Luis N.

Munich: Onlookers with cell phone cameras hinder the rescue operation

Bitter: In the meantime, the second officer is dealing with unhesitating onlookers who want to take photos of the dramatic scenes with their cell phones.

When the emergency doctor and rescue workers arrive in the room on the locked floor, the woman's heart is still not beating.

The professionals take over, take care of the elderly woman and take her to a hospital.

"In the meantime, she is in a stable condition again," says the federal police.

This is the best news: for her 86-year-old husband, who was helpless to watch the drama and had to be cared for by the crisis intervention team.

And of course for Luis N. He didn't look the other way or - even worse - hinder the rescue by filming or taking pictures.

The adolescent, who turned 16 just last week, was there when a lifesaver was needed.
