The number of students at the elementary school in Walpertskirchen is increasing.

From the school year 2026 there will be all-day care

Walpertskirchen

– With the legal entitlement to all-day care from 2026, there should also be five-day all-day care at the Walpertskirchen elementary school until a maximum of 4 p.m.

This was announced by the head of the community, Franz Hörmann (CSU), at the citizens' meeting and added that holiday care would then also be mandatory.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)

With regard to care, the municipality already operates an open all-day school (OGTS) as a cooperation partner of the school.

According to Hörmann, 51 out of 73 children would use it.

There are three short groups until 2 p.m. and one long group until 4 p.m. with a total of four supervisors.

Lunch and help with homework are part of this package.

Currently, the primary school in Walpertskirchen has one form from the first to the fourth grade.

Due to the expected number of students, the years 2023/24 and 2026/27 will probably be divided into two classes.

The initiative of the parents' council to set up a team of helpers on the way to school is gratifying.

19 people are currently working alternately to ensure that the road is crossed safely.

Hörmann also praised the actions of the school support association and thanked not only its members, but also the parents' council, the school support team as well as the headmistress Birgit Hipper and the teaching staff for their committed work.

The municipality's e-minibus is used to transport students.

There would be up to 15 trips a week.

Only the personnel costs have to be paid for this.

In the meantime, the school building is "fully equipped with ventilation systems and an optimal room climate for learning is guaranteed," said Hörmann.

This also applies to the multi-purpose hall - "because in the past ventilation through the windows was only possible to a very limited extent".

The cost estimate for the equipment with ventilation systems is 200,000 euros, with the municipality expecting a subsidy of 160,000 euros.

Last but not least, the mayor thanked the group of helpers for their voluntary commitment.

The so-called teacher's house, where most of the asylum seekers live, is being connected to the local heating network.
