Deputy Aymeric Caron has tabled a bill aimed at banning bullfighting in France, in the name of respect - legitimate and essential - for animal welfare.
For the southern French regions concerned, the disappearance of bullfighting would mark the end of an entire ecology on rare or protected territories (pastures of the Astarac Gersois, meadows and marshes of the Camargue, the Crau or the mouth of the 'Aude, Languedoc scrubland).
The bull breeding model, extensive and respectful, unique in France, produces the last representatives of a very old breed, patiently selected from generation to generation to encourage the expression of its wild instincts, including the presence in semi-freedom. over hundreds of hectares, through the manure it spreads over large areas, without saturating the soil, ensures both natural fertilization of the land and an abundance of worms and insects which are a resource for birds , offering migrants…
