"10 minutes pedaling - a round of ouzo": The energy crisis makes people inventive.

A Bavarian restaurant amuses its guests with an "electric bike".

Fürth – “The bike is directly to the left of the entrance to our restaurant,” explains operator Andonis Dallas from the Greek restaurant “Taverna Kirschbaum” to

The bike is wired, and a sign in front of it reads: "Please pedal, we need power.

Kick around for 10 minutes – a round of ouzo”.

The landlord explains to our editors what's behind it.

Of course it's just a joke, the bike isn't connected.

He wanted to make his guests laugh, "something we need in these times." His grandfather always said, "a day that goes by without laughing is a day wasted".

Of course, everyone who kicks really gets a round of ouzo on the house – or even two.

There is also a sign on his shop that says “Gyros instead of Virus”.

Next to it you can read that there is no WiFi in the restaurant.

"Eat, drink and talk to each other," he asks his guests instead.

The Taverna Kirschbaum is a small family-run restaurant on the outskirts of Fürth in Unterfürberg.

He, too, will have to pay more for electricity on his next bill.

He hasn't passed it on to customers yet.

"We'll just wait and see," explains Dallas.

"We don't have WiFi, eat, drink and talk to each other," Dallas urges his guests.
