VIDEO – A few days before the day devoted to the rights of the child, the media use of three-year-old Ruby Guedj made Claire Hédon react on the set of “C à vous”.

"How to protect children's privacy?"

This is the question that the broadcast of Thursday, November 17 poses.

And for the occasion, the journalist, Émilie Tran Nguyen, pointed the finger at the behavior of some parents who overexpose their children on social networks with a specific example, the reality TV candidates Carla Moreau and Kevin Guedj.

Accumulating between them

5.6 million subscribers

, the now separated couple documented all the actions of their daughter from birth.

From her birthday, to leaving school, to her vacation at the beach, at only three years old, Ruby Guedj's life is displayed in great detail on social networks.

From his first day – and even before by ultrasounds – the toddler was used to photo and video sessions.

The parents went so far as to create

an Instagram account in his name

which is followed by nearly 900,000 subscribers.

“It can generate mockery”

Viewing images shared on the girl's Instagram account, the rights defender seems stunned.

“What will they think of it as adults?

There, the question of child labor arises there because at some point it is still something that is of this order”

, underlines Claire Hédon.

It reminds us that we must regularly ask ourselves the question of

the best interests of the child

.

Indeed, although the account is mentioned as managed by the parents, it is all the same about the image and the private life of the child.

“The frequent reaction of adults is to say

” privacy concerns me, it is more difficult to imagine that it concerns children “

, but yes and we can see it very well on social networks with cyberbullying for example

”, alert the defender of rights.

She also adds that the role of the parents is to guarantee a private life to the child but also to defend him against all forms of violence.

This overexposure can generate certain deviations.

An important element to counter all these excesses would be, according to Claire Hédon, to train - adults and younger - in the risks that this visibility can generate.

The notion of consent therefore appears central when a parent uses the image of his child for media purposes.

“Very often, children don't want it because it can generate teasing”

.

She also recalls that Sunday, November 20 is the annual day devoted to the rights of the child.
