The special duty team and task force of the Wong Tai Sin Police District launched a gambling operation. Yesterday (17th) at about 5:30 in the evening, they raided a unit in Ngau Chi Wan Village, smashed suspected illegal baccarat gambling stalls, and seized nearly 40 baccarat boxes. Poker cards, a small amount of gambling money, a small amount of benches and chips with a total value of about 600,000 yuan.
During the operation, a woman surnamed Li (64 years old) was arrested on suspicion of "operating a gambling establishment", a 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of "assisting in the operation of a gambling establishment"; "Gambling in China" was arrested.
All of them were also fined for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Gathering) Regulations (Cap. 599G).
All arrested men and women have been released on bail pending investigation and must report to the police in mid-December.
During the operation, 14 people were arrested, the youngest being 15 years old.

The police reminded that according to the "Gambling Ordinance" Chapter 148 of the Laws of Hong Kong, anyone who operates or assists in the operation of illegal casinos can be sentenced to a maximum fine of 5 million yuan and imprisonment for 7 years upon conviction.
It is also illegal for any person to gamble in a casino. On first conviction, he can be sentenced to a fine of 30,000 yuan and imprisonment for 9 months.
