A wanted Israeli criminal, senior in the crime organization of the Abergil family, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Johannesburg - the South African police announced today (Thursday).
The wanted man, 46 years old, was arrested in a raid in an affluent suburb of the largest city in South Africa.
In 2015, Interpol placed the wanted man on the "red alerts" list - and asked law enforcement agencies around the world to locate and arrest the person.

The police statement states that "according to the Israeli authorities, the suspect is part of a notorious gang engaged in drug trafficking, extortion and other criminal activities."
The police also noted two incidents, in which the suspect allegedly placed bombs under and on top of the vehicle.
During the raid, the suspect was arrested along with seven others, and 12 weapons, including five assault rifles and seven pistols, and $40,000 were seized from them.
