A lot is at stake in the US state of Georgia on December 6: Then a runoff will decide who gets the last vacant seat in the Senate.

For the Republicans, Herschel Walker is in the running – and he's apparently now going for the strategy: »Attract attention at all costs«.

Inspired by a vampire movie, Walker presented an odd comparison between himself and his political opponent, Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock.

Herschel Walker, Georgia Republican candidate: “I saw this movie called Fright Night, Freak Night or something like that.

It was about vampires.

I don't know if you guys know, but vampires are cool people, aren't they?

But I found something: a werewolf can kill a vampire, did you know that?

Not me.

So I don't want to be a vampire anymore, I want to be a werewolf.

And this vampire looked really good in his black suit.

That sounds like Senator Warnock, doesn't it?

Looks good in his black suit.

He was floating off the ceiling and looking good and cool."

Neither of the two opponents for the Senate seat got more than 50 percent of the votes in the first ballot.

Before the bizarre vampire monologue, Walker had made headlines with more serious issues: Two former partners accused him of pushing them to have abortions and giving them money for the procedures - while he publicly presented himself as a strict anti-abortion opponent.

Ex-President Donald Trump has meanwhile reiterated his support for Walker.

Whether this will help him to win the election is by no means certain.

Many Trump-backed candidates did worse than expected in the midterm elections.
