Investing: Should you save if you're under 30?

2022-11-17T13:17:13.226Z

Many young people fear poverty in old age. At the same time, they could just chill and spend money, says economist Gerd Kommer. Also in the texts of the week about studying and starting a career: a female controller gone astray in the butcher's shop - and a young man from Heilbronn who becomes a well-known music producer overnight.

According to a recent study, three out of four young people between the ages of 17 and 27 fear poverty in old age.

I was like that for a long time too.

So I tried to save, investing money in stocks, cryptocurrencies and ETFs.

A lot of people do it this way: 92 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds diligently put money away, according to a survey by the payment service provider Klarna.

Is that really necessary?

I spoke to bestselling author and wealth manager Gerd Kommer about this.

He says: Anyone under 30 should first spend money, try things out, gain experience, make mistakes – and then start investing.

Because to close the pension gap, that would be enough for most people.

If that's what the »ETF Pope« says!

He was able to take away a lot of my worries – and hopefully even more young people.

What does success do?

»He fucks one«:

The young Dennis Berger from Heilbronn became an internationally sought-after music producer almost overnight.

His story sounds like a Hollywood movie, too good to be true.

That's what torments him sometimes.
