The product is based on cultured milk fat, identical to milk fat from cattle • This is a breakthrough that will bring us closer to preparing different types of food, independent of the cow

The Israeli foodtech company Wilk introduced the first hybrid yogurt based on cultured milk fat, identical to cow's milk fat.

In doing so, Wilk becomes the first company in the world that has the capabilities to continue developing non-cow cultured dairy products.

This is a breakthrough that will bring us closer to preparing different foods, independent of the cow.

The product was sent for testing by a certified external laboratory, which checked and confirmed that the developed cultured yogurt passed the required chemical and biological tests.

Later, the company will supply the dairy industry with the cultured ingredients for the preparation of the various dairy products.

The CEO of Wilk, Tomer Eisen, shared: "This is a significant breakthrough in the development of the company, as this is the first yogurt of its kind in the world that contains an essential component that was developed and produced through the epithelial cells (the tissue that covers all the external surfaces of the body), and is an essential layer in dairy products.

This process brings the company one step closer to its goals, which are the development and production of real dairy products independent of the cow, while protecting the environment."

Meanwhile, yesterday it was reported that the American Food and Drug Administration approved for the first time in the history of the United States the use of cultured meat products, meat tissues grown in a laboratory, for human consumption.

The approval was given to the "Upside" company from Singapore, which mainly produces chicken products such as chicken bites and snacks that are marketed frozen and made from chicken meat tissues that are produced in a laboratory.

Over the past few years, dozens of cultured meat startups have sprung up around the world, some of them in Israel - as part of a growing trend in the foodtech field, in an attempt to answer the moral problem of slaughtering and eating animals.

It should be noted that the production of cultured milk is more complex and longer than the production of cultured meat.
