Chinese President Xi Jinping was photographed scolding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, after information from a meeting the two held at the 20G summit in Bali, Indonesia, was leaked to the media.
President Xi told Trudeau through an interpreter that the leak was inappropriate and accused him of not being "yes".
The rebuke came a day after a government official said that during a conversation on the sidelines of the summit, Trudeau raised serious concerns about "China's aggressive involvement" in the Canadian election.
The talks, held behind closed doors, were the first in the two seas in years.
In the video, taken by journalists at the summit, the two leaders are seen standing close and speaking through an interpreter.

"Our conversation was leaked to the newspapers, which is inappropriate," Xi told Trudeau in Mandarin.
After smiling and shaking his head, the Canadian Prime Minister replied that, "In Canada we believe in open, free and yes dialogue, and this is what we will continue to do. We will continue to strive for joint and constructive work, but there will be issues on which we will not agree."
Xi interrupted and asked to be the first to "set the terms" - and eventually shook Trudeau's hand and left.
According to the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the incident was a normal exchange, and there is no need to interpret it or blame anyone.
Mao Ning added that Beijing supports dialogue on an equal basis.
