The First Syrian Sculpture Forum concludes its activities in Tartous

Tartous, SANA- The first Syrian forum for stone sculpture, which was held in the Junada tourist resort on the Corniche, was concluded.

The First Syrian Stone Sculpture Forum, which was held in the Junada Tourist Resort on the sea corniche in Tartous for fifteen days, concluded its activities today with a special forum that included the display of small sculptures by the artists participating in the forum, in addition to the works and sculptural pieces formed by the participants.

The forum, in which 15 Syrian sculptors participated, presented works of various artistic styles and schools. Minister of Culture Dr. Labana Mashouh said during her speech: It represents the marriage of art, industry, culture and tourism. Culture cannot be the monopoly of an official public institution.

And she saw in it a project that embodies a developed thought, stressing that culture can turn into an industry that has a financial return, and called on those concerned with tourism and commercial affairs to support work and cultural product.

In turn, the director of the forum, Aktham Abdel-Hamid, said in his speech: The forum is the first forum that includes wall sculpture to become a cultural and touristic project by the participating artists, expressing his appreciation to everyone who contributed to the manufacture of this project, to turn stones into pieces of art that will be immortalized in history.

The closing ceremony was attended by Tartous Governor Abdul Halim Awad Khalil, and a crowd of people of culture, art and tourism.
